The Society For Barefoot Living
We are a group of people who love going barefoot pretty much everywhere, all the time (not just around the house or at the beach), as a lifestyle choice, including out and about on streets, stores, in the country, and hiking. We enjoy walking barefoot as nature intended, taking delight in feeling the many textures the world has to offer, like having tough, callused soles, and even think it's cool to get them dirty. We also hate wearing shoes and, if we had our way, would never wear them again. Shoes are unnecessary ballast. Plus, bare feet are cool and look great!
Ever take off your shoes and walk barefoot through the grass, on the beach, etc? We bet you have. Why did you do it? Because it feels good! We've just extended that to everyday life. Know what? It feels even better!
Hmmm, I'm not sure. I don't think I'd want to walk around on a floor covered in crap.

Sounds kind of painful...

i love to walk bare foot. i walk bare everywhere. i love to walk bare foot in mud because i love the feeling. my favorite part of walking bare foot is when the bottom of my feet are black from all the dirt, and dirty streets

Painful? For the first few days maybe.
Like with everything you shouldn't overdo it. Get those feet used to being used as they were intended. When they've been kept immobilised for decades they tend to be lazy and overly sensitive leading to discomfort and muscle ache for a few days.
floor covered in crap? If the floor is covered in crap there's something wrong with the floor (or rather the establishment it's the floor of) and I wouldn't go there wearing shoes either.
Since shedding my shoes (most of the time) I no longer suffer twisted ankles (used to have that several times a week), my knees don't hurt (they did that almost all the time, overstressed ligaments), and my back is getting better.

Walking barefoot feels so good. One day, i was walking barefoot on a street, and this one guy comes up to me and says "where are your shoes", and i say "what are shoes?" bare feet look so cool when the soles turn black from the dirt, mud, and streets.

If anybody's worried about the "dangers" of going barefoot (which there are), check this site: http://unshod.org/pfbc/pfwhatabout.htm
Really, there are dangers, but if you are careful you don't have to worry. I've overdone it on hot pavement and I got a 2-inch blister on the ball of my foot! Ouch! But if you're careful, it's likely that you won't get injured.
By the way, if you think it's gross to go barefoot, consider your favorite pair of shoes. On the inside, the average temperature is 106 degrees Fahrenheit. You know what your body does when it's that hot? It sweats. Bacteria love sweat, so they gather in droves and multiply in to your shoe to feast on not only the copious amounts of sweat, but the dead skin cells as well. The waste they are producing is the culprit for the putrid smell inside your shoes. Hence, smelly feet.
Now let me ask, how often do you wash the outsides of your shoes? If you don't wash them, the dirt you pick up from wearing them every day residually increases. You're picking up the same dirt as any barefooter, but you're keeping it longer. I wash my feet every time I get home from going barefoot, which is multiple times a day. Just imagine me not washing them for months! Gross!
