Man Visits All 265 Asda Stores
The Times: Lord of the aisles checks out 265th store
A retired salesman is about to complete a 15-year tour of Britain’s Asda supermarkets, with the store in Crawley, West Sussex, the last of 265 on his list.
Richard Bunn, 80, from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, has kept the receipts for purchases he had made at 264 stores so far. He has them in alphabetical order in a white box, with a supplementary group of receipts from Asda stores that have since been shut.
Mr Bunn and his wife, Sylvia, formerly from Northampton, started shopping at the Corby store. “We decided to take trips to some of the other Asda stores nearby to see how they compared. It has all mushroomed from there.”
In 1997 Mr Bunn was given an Asda ABCD award — “Above and Beyond the Call of Duty” — and was given the title of Asdaman. He has since been invited to open new Asda stores.
