"This Mako was hooked in the mouth, only fought slightly for 15 minutes, came up along side of the boat to have a look, long enough for one of the crew to put a rope around its tail !!!

That's when the s**t hit the fan!!

The Shark took off towing the 42 foot fishing boat backwards through the water at about 7 Knots. Just like in JAWS. The boat was taking on water, the Shark would jump completely out of the water at times.

This went on for an hour before the Shark actually drowned. He weighed in at 1035 LBS"

Dumb ass people forget there are more persons than there are the animals we currently hunt and kill... FOR SPORT!

So killing a shark isn't justifiable unless it's in self defense, which clearly isn't the case.

Sharks are vastly misunderstood and do not naturally attack humans. They are overfished and killed because they are perceived as dangerous. You don't see too many people freaking out and killing one of the millions of other animals that kill thousands of times more people annually than sharks do, eh?

What a shame. We don't see sharks this size anymore especially mako. I would leave it alone. Even the great white now are down to 15-16 footers.

We need more preservations and laws for shark hunting i.e above certain lenght for X or Y species should be left alone.

I once hooked a 14 ft tiger shark while tuna fishing and let it go. It wasa magnificent animal. Shame on people who think it's cool to kill such magnificent creatures. Self defense I agree but just to be the man, that's shameful.
