Paul Allen's Octopus

Microsoft billionaire Paul Allen is rich, very rich, and he's not afraid to show it. At 416ft long, The 'Octopus' is the world's largest yacht (it's more like a cruise liner) and cost a whopping $200 million.
[The Octopus] has Permanent crew of 60, including several former Navy Seals. It has two helicopters, seven boats, a 10 man submarine and a remote controlled vehicle for crawling on the Ocean floor. The submarine has the capacity to sleep eight for up to two weeks underwater.

On average, owners must spend a minimum of 10 percent of the purchase price every year to keep these yachts in good working condition and cover crew salaries. Therefore “Octopus” which cost Allen US$200 million requires a US$20 million annual budget.

Yachtcrew-cv has a Powerpoint presentation that contains around 50 slides of the behemoth. Sadly there are no internal images of the Octopus. If you haven't got Powerpoint installed on your computer you can download a free viewer here.

Yes the octopus is big but my yacht someday will be bigger, but what is the point of two heli pads? that is ridiculous.

nader

What is the point of a 416 ft. yacht? What is the point of two heli-pads? Because he can.

kevin frank

That must be the best saying. BECAUSE HE CAN. And thats all that needs to be said

I was in Bora Bora from Oct 31st to Mid November and I saw this yacht there for at least 3 days in the lagoon. How much is this guy worth? Does Bill Gates have a yacht like this one?

Xicano

Just saw the Octopus last week in Curacao. It was docked in Willemsted and dwarfed everything in sight!

Jackie

Yeah, he does not get laid at all. He's got all the toys but no fun without anyone to enjoy them with. He dumped his only and loyal girlfriend ten years ago, that was his bigget mistake. He now gets his piece of ass in Japan for $$$$. His sister, Jody Patton is in charge, he's a pussy whip guy. He travels to Japan ( for his piece of ass)on regular basis on his 767 or the Challenger. What a looser. He also have four more yatchs, one is called Charade, lives in Mercer Island with his mom. A big estate with one low paid security guard, one housekeeper that lives outside the estate, one gardener, one cook who also lives outside the estate, lives alone in his mansion with ten car garage, he loves his cars but afraid to drive them.
F40, 288GTO, Lambo Diablo, 512TR, 355gt, C2 twin turbo, 3.6 twin turbo, GT1, Mercs, BMW.
I'm sure he added more. He is super paranoid. He's got the money all right, but that's all. No true friends, everyone is afraid or faking it because he's got the power, you know money is power. Without money, he's nothing. He invites celebrities to his parties, they go for freebies and rubbing shoulders with the man. No personality whatsoever.
Want more?????

^^ LMAO SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE IS A BIT JEALOUS!!:-)..My my..and Paul is REALLY hurt by your comment.. *rotfl*

Sea_ms

Ah.... money can by anything, almost. Scary though, that it can, then you cannot trust that anyone sees you for who you are. I admire his free spirit and courage to do the different. He has had his challanges, and I am sure, still does. Congrats Paul!!!

ME TOO, I SAW THE OCTOPUS LAST SUNDAY(SEPTEMBER 3RD) IN VENICE EXACTLY CLOSE TO SAN MARCO SQUARE. i DID NOT KNOW IT BELONGED TO PAUL ALLEN AND I WAS REALLY SURPRISED AND EXITED WHEN I SAW IT. WHAT A BUTY THAT BOT!!! I CAN JUST IMAGINE BILL GATES FLYING WITH THE PRIVATE JET TO VENICE AIRPORT AND CALLING HIS FRIEND PAUL ASKING HIM TO GET HIM FROM THE AIRPORT WITH THE ELICOPTER... i HONESTLY TELL YOU THAT I FEEL A BIT JELOUS...BUT IT'S NORMAL I THINK.
BYE AND... HAVE FUN PAUL EVEN FOR ALL OF US WHO CANNOT ENJOY IT...

Doug

My wife and I also marveled at this beauty while it was docked in Venice. Had no idea this was Paul Allen's. No picture can really capture what a sight this is with ones own eyes. We returned to Venice Sept 10th and the vessal had left port. Looking forward to hearing about the next sighting.
