Man Successfully Swims The Amazon

A Slovenian man has battled piranhas, crocodiles and exhaustion to become the first person to swim the entire length of the Amazon river.

Martin Strel, 52, completed the 5,265-km (3,272-mile) marathon in 66 days when he neared Belem, 2,440km north of Rio de Janeiro, on Saturday.

Mr Strel, known as "fish man", was suffering dizziness, nausea, diarrhoea and sunstroke as he neared the end.

He has previously completed the Yangtze, Mississippi and Danube. Link

He didn't actually battle piranhas did he? If he had I suspect that right now he would be a pile of bones at the bottom of the river somewhere.

no, that only happens in Warner Bros. cartoons

I'd be more afraid of the CandirĂº when swimming through the Amazonas

A boat would have been faster.

That's the 'swim into the penis' fish, right? That would be my biggest fear, too.

so basicly he just floated along with the current and took daily breaks, not saying its not impressive but he could of least swam upstream, hell gimmie a lilo and some cocktails and ill go down the amazon. and theres no fear of crocs ect as he probly had a full support team with him.
