Russian rats just don't give up. Despite being hassled by a crow, this rat refuses to run away.

isn't it otherwise ? i think the rat is losing the battle & slowly dying here - getting "picked" upon by a crow does hurt for such little animal

No, you're right. The hooded crow is trying to make a meal of this rat without being bitten. Crows and ravens have been known to prey upon larger animals such as the young of ungulates by bludgeoning their skulls with powerful beaks. This rat does try to slowly walk away a couple of times, but is seriously wounded. Try running with a fatal head injury, it doesn't work too well.
