The World Continues To Look Away. Don't

The Sydney Morning Herald has an article outlining horrific acts that are currently going on in the Democratic Republic of Congo. I would call them animals but they are far lower than that.

Attackers are now identifiable by their manner of attack: one group, after raping the woman or girl, inserts the barrel of a gun into her vagina and shoots, thus destroying her vagina, bladder, rectum and causing massive blood loss. Some force males at gunpoint to rape mothers or sisters, often in front of the whole community. A large percentage of the attackers are HIV-positive and knowingly try to infect their victims.

seems like similar methods used during the rape of nanking.

yeah this is way worse than animals, even after considering the fact that its not for survival at all.

That is very, very bad. Why don't I hear of this? Where is the rest of the world?

The rest of the world is too buzy reading blogs to care about poor people. The conflict in former colony of my homeland has been slumbering for nearly forty years. This is just another outburst of excessive violence. As long economic interests aren't harmed -- the ore-rich areas are more to the south -- I don't see any western power getting involved.

No oil, no Bush.

Sure no Bush, but where is the righteous UN?

I trully believe we shouldn't get involved. It's been going on ever since it ended being a belgian colony. They want to keep having civil wars and torture their people, so let them. None of our bussiness. And i know what most of you are thinking. I'm an ass, right? Well, if your idea of helping is spending money for forthy years just so they kan shoot up the schools and hospitals we build, then please keep donating money.

If only the Democratic Republic of Congo had oil. None of this would happen!

Simple...no oil...no help. Why should the western world get involved? There is no oil and no money to be made. We are animals, almost as immoral as the perpetrators committimng these crimes. The UN are spineless and rely on rich western countries and politicians for support. Unfortunately this kind of sick violence will never be stopped in Africa...because the western politicians dont care and have nothing to gain. We should hang our heads in shame.

Pornodoll, You call it "no oil, no money" I call it "no reason to go over there". Where your err is you equate oil with money. Oil is stability more than it is money. If it was about the money, the western countries would simply take it and not pay. Game over. Now about Africa, it is a shame. The rich and powerful western world can and should help.
