Is this a long-lost relative of whales, dolphins and porpoises? Professor Hans Thewissen of the Department of Anatomy at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Ohio, US thinks so.
The 48 million-year-old deer-like animal, Indonyus, shares certain anatomical features.
The structures of its skull and ear are similar to those of early whales, and like other animals that spend a lot of time in water, it had thickened bones that provided ballast to keep its feet anchored in shallow water.
"We've found the closest extinct relative to whales and it is closer than any living relative

Despite how deadly grizzly bears are, Charlie Vandergaw has managed to make a bond with some of them and lives them in an apparent harmony.
Charlie built a cabin called Bear Haven, which is 70 miles from the nearest road in the wilds of Alaska’s Yentna River Valley, so that he could be near them.
For the past two decades he has spent six months a year at the cabin, with no communication with the outside world.
There he feeds, cuddles and even rubs noses with the bears. Sometimes he lets the younger ones come inside.
He only returns to his wife Lanette at their home in Anchorage when they go into hibernation.
The bears in the other photos here do look real but the one above looks like a man dressed in a costume.

The Queen has become the oldest British monarch after she overtook Queen Victoria, her great-great grandmother, at 1700 GMT.
Queen Victoria, who was born on 24 May 1819, lived for 81 years, seven months and 29 days.
The Queen still has a way to go before becoming the longest reigning British monarch. She will claim that record on 9 September 2015, when she would have been on the throne for almost 64 years. Providing she lives that long of course. Link

A 44ft (13.41m) love spoon being carved outside Cardiff Castle is due to be completed in the next few days.
Ed Harrison from Pontsian, Ceredigion, is attempting to break the world record for the largest wooden spoon which currently stands at 25ft 9in (7.86m).
Using a chainsaw, Mr Harrison is carving the spoon out of a felled Red Cedar tree from the Caerphilly area.
It has taken him over a week to finish the spoon which features a heart, cage, dragon and links, all symbolising love. Link

The Kilfitt UKA 659 camerawatch ia a tiny analog camera stuffed into a wristwatch. It's the only one in existence, created as a prototype in the Munich laboratory of famed optician Heinz Kilfitt in the 60's. It has a 1.3mm-10.5mm lens, shutter speed from 1/15 sec to 1/1,000 sec, and it uses a custom film disc. It's up for sale on eBay with a Buy It Now price of almost $60,000. The listing on eBay has more photos of the camerwatch plus images of the film it uses and examples of the photographs it has taken. [via]

I hope this hilarious story is true.
The 17-year-old woman sent the man an enticing text message offering him an early Christmas present in the shape of two friendly women and suggested he take off his clothes to save time.
The 31-year old man wasted no time in arriving at the house, and took off his clothes and threw them through the window before entering.
But it was the wrong house and the householder did not see the funny side. The police were called and the man arrested for being unlawfully on a property.
The woman, who sent the tempting but deliberately wayward message, was also tracked down and charged for misusing a phone.
Both the man and the woman escaped prosecution and were cautioned and put on good behavior bonds.
