These videos are probably only for those people who are interested in planes. The videos (10 mins each) seem to be official videos from Virgin Atlantic showing a Boeing 747-400 landing at SFO. The videos start at around 50 miles from SFO and shows in some detail the checks that need to be made, the communication with ATC and the procedures after landing.
And for those that are really interested, here are the videos showing the takeoff from London Heathrow (part 1, part 2, part 3 (actual takeoff), part 4)
A tiny colony of yeast trapped inside a Lebanese weevil covered in ancient Burmese amber for up to 45 million years, has been brought back to life in barrels of beer.
Emeritus Professor Raul Cano of the California Polytechnic State University, originally extracted the yeast a decade ago and has used the reactivated yeast to brew barrels of pale ale and German wheat beer.
According to beer reviewers, the beer has "a weird spiciness at the finish" which is due to the ancient yeast's unique metabolism. Link
I spotted this town in an atlas last night and despite its name, it has nothing to do with the comic book superhero.
Batman (short for Batı Raman Mountains) is the provincial capital of Batman Province, Turkey and is an important oil producing area (Batman has Turkey's oldest refinery, established in 1955). [via]

A man is suing a hospital after he awoke from a procedure without his penis.
Philip Seaton, 61, went to have a circumcision last October as part of treatment for a medical condition. Seaton said when he woke up from the procedure, he realized his penis had been amputated.
Seaton has suffered mental anguish, pain, and has lost the enjoyment of life, according to the lawsuit.
I think most men would agree with that.
The hospital say that during the procedure they found cancer and removed the penis even though the patient had only given consent for a circumcision. Link (video report)

Apparently this photo is real. It shows a lone house that managed to survive hurricane Ike which hit the town of Gilchrist, Texas. Roughly 200 houses were destroyed by the hurricane.
The reason why the house survived was because 3 years previously, their old house was destroyed by hurricane Rita. This time around they made sure they built their house to withstand the force of hurricane by placing it on 14 foot high stilts (about 22 feet above sea level).
However, even though the house survived, the interior had been battered by the storm making it uninhabitable and destroying many belongings. Link [via]

ThinkNext has posted some screenshots and videos of Windows 7 (M3 Build 6780). At this stage, there is nothing groundbreaking and 'new features' include a lightweight version of Media Player, the integration of the ribbon UI into WordPad, a more complex calculator, a sticky notes application and no Sidebar (at least not in this build). In North Korea, you can drive for hours on the highways without crossing any cars. Last time i came, i saw many pedestrians trying to stop our car to come inside. Of course, the guides do not have the right to stop. it was impressive to see all those people standing in the middle of the road as the car arrived very fast.
