A Russian news channel has broadcast footage of the aftermath of one of James Bond's Aston Martin that was trashed while filming the opening scene of Quantum of Solace.
The driver lost control of 007 Daniel Craig's £130,000 DBS beside Lake Garda in Northern Italy -where the opening action scenes for new Bond movie Quantum Of Solance are being filmed - early yesterday.
He swam ashore and was taken to hospital with minor injuries. The crumpled car was later pulled out of the water by a crane.
Judging by the footage at the end of the clip, Bond has still got more Aston Martins to play with (five to be exact). [via]

A police force in the US has converted a VW Beetle into a police car. The 1973 "bug-erceptor" only has a top speed of 70mph so won't be used in any chases. Instead the car will be used mostly as a public relations tool for the department, making appearances in parades and at school events.
The car was seized in a DUI case and boasts a new paint job, sheriff's decals and tags, a siren, radio, barred rear side windows, a side-mounted spotlight and police lights.

One of the world's largest four wheel drive cars has been turned into a giant radio-controlled car. Engineers from Cranfield University in Bedfordshire have converted a Hummer H3 so it can be driven and manoeuvred using a hand-held device. Dr James Brighton said it took a month to transform the giant off-roader, and he was pleased with the results.

According to The Sun, this is the world's fastest-ever road vehicle. The turbo-charged 1300cc, 800Bhp Acabion GTBO is capable of reaching 300mph in 30 seconds and has a top speed of 340mph.
Described by its creator, Dr Peter Maskus, as a “road streamliner,” is neither car nor motor-bike, but something in between. Dr Maskus hopes to have it on the road in the UK and USA within three years. But start saving now – it will set you back a whopping £1.5million.
This is the Splinter, a supercar made of wood that’s faster than a Lamborghini.
The sleek motor was built using a combination of maple, ply and MDF.
Even its wheel spokes are wooden — and because the materials are so light, the Splinter’s 4.6litre V8 engine blasts it to a top speed of 240mph.
Creator Joe Harmon, 27, aims to market it later this year.
