Man Sells Snow On EBay For $3,550

A Quebec man has earned $3,550 for charity after selling a "magnificent" two-metre-high snowbank in front of his home on EBay The buyer plans to use it for a snowball fight with his family.

The winning bidder, Claude Fraser, said he and his family bought the snowbank because they make an annual donation to a charity and hadn't decided on one for this year.

"It's a good cause," said Fraser, who plans to collect his winnings in a trailer Monday at noon.

Fraser works for a telephone company and lives in a bungalow in Longueuil, Que. "We're not rich, but we feel it's part of our education as parents to teach our children to think of others and to be generous."

The proceeds will go to Operation Enfant Soleil, a Quebec charity that supports children's hospitals in the province.

£220 eBay Jug Sells For £47,000

An antiques buff bought a tiny china jug on eBay for £220 — then sold it at auction for £47,000.

Canny Dave Shuttleworth, 38, spotted that the 18th Century Worcester creamboat had been wrongly listed as an Italian piece worth a few quid.

After being purchased by Shuttleworth, London auctioneers Bonhams confirmed that it was the only one in existence and could fetch £20,000. It eventually sold for £46,800.

I wonder if the people who sold it know that it sold for so much?

Burgled Woman Finds Stolen iPod On eBay

The Register: Burgled mum finds stolen iPod on eBay

A US mum tracked down a thief who burgled her home after the ill-gotten gains were offered for sale on eBay. Karen Todd, a US Census Bureau computer programmer, spotted a personally-inscribed iPod on the auction site weeks after it was robbed from her Washington DC area home.

Todd reported the find to police who traced the stolen items back through a Maryland sports memorabilia dealer - who unwittingly offered several sets of stolen goods for sale - to Ibrahima Kalil Toure, 21, the suspected burglar. Toure was subsequently charged with 12 counts of burglary realating to breaks-ins at various homes in the DC area. He is in jail on remand awaiting trial.

Todd also found her stolen laptop amongst the other items that the burglar was selling. It seems like a good way of selling stolen goods but as soon as you get caught selling one, police can view every other item that you are selling or have sold.

I'm waiting for something to resemble the new pope. [Thanks Vince]

Woman Sells Name On eBay For $15K, Now Know As Goldenpalace.com

MyrtleBeachOnline: Woman sells her name on eBay for $15K

A mother of five put her name up for bid on eBay and got an offer. Terri Iligan, 33, sold her name to Internet site Golden Palace Casino, and she will officially be named goldenpalace.com once the legal work is complete.

The casino paid $15,199 for the name.

Iligan said she got the idea when she found out how much it would cost to send one of her children, ages 4 to 10, to a golf school Tiger Woods attended.

I think she got the idea when she realised that the Golden Palace Casino would buy almost anything.

Ohioans Will Need License To Sell On eBay

NewsChannel5: Ohioans Will Need License To Sell On eBay

Ohio lawmakers are promising to fix a new law that would force some individuals to get an auctioneer's license to sell something on eBay.

The law is scheduled to take effect on May 2.

Lawmakers say it was intended to regulate auctioneers, not individuals who sell something through an Internet auction house. But the law would indeed apply to some such individuals.

The lawmakers say they'll rewrite it before it goes into effect next month.

Man Puts Teeth Up For Sale On eBay

NewsNet5: Man Puts Teeth Up For Sale On eBay

A 23-year-old is hoping someone takes a bite on his personal advertising space.

NewsChannel5 reported Nang Doung is renting advertising space on his teeth on eBay.

"I have a hole in my heart and also a split in the valve," Doung said. "(They) have to go in and repair it."

Doung said his surgery is set for next month, and his medical bills are already piling up. He doesn't want to rely on insurance to pick up the entire tab.

"They'll cover part of it. The other part has to come from me, too," Doung said.

Doug said he's hoping for a toothpaste or toothbrush company.

Expect a follow-up within the next few days when the Golden Palace Casino print their logo on his teeth.

Pregnant Woman Sued Over eBay Auction

Ananova: Pregnant woman sued over eBay auction

A pregnant woman is being sued after selling her bump as advertising space on eBay.

Elisa Harp, of Roswell, near Atlanta, Georgia, faces legal action after refusing to sell to the highest bidder SunPoker.com.

"The highest bidder at first was SunPoker.com but I decided after the auction ended not to go with them and decided to go with The GoldenPalace Casino," she said.

Sun Poker .com argues that by putting the auction on eBay, she agreed to sell to the highest bidder, reports Local 6 News.

But Elise insisted: "No, even if I was selling T-shirts or anything else on eBay, as a seller, I have the right to decide who I want to sell to."

Somehow, I don't think she grasps the concept of eBay, or auctions for that matter.

Homeless People For Sale On eBay*

Further to my last post on the Crap Cars Tesco ad on Google, here are some more that I have just come across on Google. They are all eBay ads but are affiliate ads so are not placed by eBay. I knew that you could buy weird stuff on eBay but who knew that there was a big selection of homeless people for sale and low priced poo and pee? I wonder if eBay/Google will remove some of these ads like they did with the 'African Slaves' ads.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

* Apologies to those who thought that there were actually going to be homeless people for sale.
