Modified Mice Can Cost $100,000

When I first saw the link to this article I thought it was referring to very expensive computer mice but when I clicked on it I discovered that it was referring to real-life mice.

It seems there that when medical researchers need a mouse with a particular disease they just buy one. A mouse with arthritis runs close to $200; two pairs of epileptic mice can cost 10 times that and three blind mice will set you back $250. If you want a custom genetically modified mouse it can cost as much as $100,000.

I suppose it makes sense that scientists buy these mice rather than give them diseases themselves, it's just something you never really think about.

Very interesting blog you have here, someone beating me on Britblog toplist ;)

BTW I think you've gotten the wrong code for your sitemeter, unless your purposely using the non JavaScript version, it's not showing referrals or anything like that.
