I love new toys and for the last week or so I have been playing with my new gadget, a Nokia N800 Internet Tablet. For those that don't know what one is, it's not a mobile phone but it's a device that's used for accessing the Internet (either via Wi-Fi or using your phone connection via bluetooth). It can also be used as an MP3 player, play videos and display photos. It runs on a version of Linux so is basically a mini-computer.
The tablet has a great 800 x 480 pixel display that allows you to view full web pages without having to zoom in to read. And as it comes with Opera 8 and supports Flash 9, the tablet can handle sites like YouTube although playback can be a little jumpy.
The N800 has a generous 256MB of RAM and has two memory card slots and supports up to 8GB in each.
The device hasn't got a physical keyboard but supports input from either from the stylus, handwriting recognition or via a graphical on-screen keyboard much like the one used on the iPhone. I've used the stylus and on screen keyboard and if I'm going to be typing a lot, such as a blog post, then the on-screen keyboard is best.
Other features include an RSS reader, email, FM Radio, webcam, Skype support and additional applications that can be downloaded.
Here's a video of it in action.
