When released it will be obscenely expensive but the 640GB Fusion-io flash card will offer a huge amount of storage and blistering speeds. According to this chart, an Ultra-SCSI hard drive can sustain a data rate of 96MBytes/sec, a Samsung 32GB solid state drive can sustain 57MBytes/sec but the Fusion-io can sustain a massive 800MBytes/sec.
Fusion-io is aiming to ship them for less than $US30 per gigabyte which equates to around $19,000 per card!
Too bad they aren't offering a 20 or 40GB drive. I'd totally pay $600 for a 20GB drive with that performance.

Wow, seems pretty cool. I wonder if it's really worth it though... I mean, can't you just buy a RAID controller and a big bunch of small drives for less than a quarter of that price? Really, it's less than a dollar a gigabyte for that.
