Urban River

Installed in April 2007 in Drachten, The Netherlands, the Blue Road project features 1,000 metres of road painted blue and the phrase "Water is Life" written in eight-metre-high letters across it, the Blue Road is reminiscent of the waterway that used to be where the road is now.

The installation cost 75,000 Euros and used 4,000 litres of paint. There are lots more photos here including a car sinking in the 'urban river'.

That is fantastic. I love street art, specifically on such a massive scale. I really wish other countries *cough* America *cough* would allow more people to do this or at least make it a bit more possible to do. But I digress...
This rocks! (tho I think driving on a blue road in the middle of the day, say noon, would be a bit distracting what with the glare and all)

Now you got me!

I life aprox 500meters from that road! (Damn, my house didn't made it on a welsh view) Urban River haha, thats a new one. Everybody here well, actually ignors it, its kinda old news but I dont want to be banned;))

What I do miss here is the fact it is blue, because this is the place where they want to re dig the canal that used to be there. Now people can get used to it.

By the way, didn't I pointed out this road being blue in this same comment section back in April, I remember a post in the same week about a truck crash making the road (hmm, what was it) red or yellow
